Label TextLondoner Kattie Ethel Simmons (1883-1957) received this watch in 1942 to mark her 21 years of employment at the London Hosiery Mills Ltd. By the time she received it, she was working as an inspector in the factory. Since Simmons did “women’s work,” it did not matter that she was a married woman. Even during the 1930s Depression, her job was secure.
