Label TextBecause Fannie Cousins did not complete this quilt, we can see that she used the English paper piecing method to construct it. First, she cut out hexagon-shaped paper templates. She then basted the silk fabric to them before stitching the hexagons together with a whip stitch. The paper piecing technique was the best way to obtain the sharp edges needed to make the hexagons line up.
