Label TextColeman's produced this tin of Epicure Brand beef minute steaks. Once known as the Coleman Pork Packing Company, it operated a pork packing plant on the east side of First Street between the CNR and CPR rail lines, from 1926 until it was forced into bankrupty in 1973. During the 1930s, the company dropped "pork" from its name and began to process other meats, too. A meat packing plant first operated at that location in 1893 as Canadian Packing Company until a fire in 1908. The plant was rebuilt and from 1911 until about 1918, it operated under the name Dominion Abattoir Company.
