Label TextLondon Street Railway superintendant, Henry Thomas Smith, received this walking stick from LSR employees for Christmas in 1888. Born in England in 1839, he came to Canada between 1861 and 1871. In the 1871 census, Smith is described as a labourer. On his daughter's 1880 birth certificate, he is listed as an LSR employee. A mark of his competence, Smith advanced in that company. The cane indicated the respect he earned from the LSR employees under his supervision. Smith died in 1905.
