Label TextThis framed collage of photographs depicts Young' Baseball Club in 1909. That year, the team won the City League championship for the second year, for which they won the Beck Trophy. In 1909, the City League was composed of four teams: the Stars, Ramblers, Rockets, and Youngs. According to a July 17, 1909, "London Advertiser" article, "the Youngs walloped the Ramblers to win the City League." Black Londoner, Frederick Ball (second row down, far right), played short stop for the team. Later, his daughter, Helen, was a member of the London Elites, a Black women's softball team, which played in the 1920s.
