Label TextThe Kernohan Home Centre began around 1940 as East End Lumber and Builders on Florence Street south of the old Kellogg's factory. By at least the late 1940s, it was called Kernohan Lumber and Sash. The business moved to Wellington Street south of the 401 in 1964. Kernohan’s became a Home Hardware franchise in 1977, one of the Canadian chain’s first lumber and building materials store. Stuart Kernohan, grandson of the founder, closed the business in 2015.
