Label TextThis souvenir features a painted image of the Springbank Pumphouse in the centre. Beginning in the late 1830s, some London buildings received well water from wooden pipes. Londoners soon needed a better water supply. This small commemorative plate features the pump house and dam at Coombs Springs, which civic leaders established in 1877. Pumps moved water to a reservoir on top of Reservoir Hill. Gravity distributed it throughout the city.
