Label TextThese bookends commemorate the 18th "Western Ontario" Battalion, which was authorized on November 7, 1914 for servince in the First World War. While many of the young men who enlisted in the battalion came from London, others were from Chatham, Galt, Sarnia, St. Thomas, Strathroy, Walkerton, Windsor, and Woodstock, among other locales.
