Label TextThis table mat was embroidered by English-born artist Harriet Priddis (1847-1922). She came to London, Canada West (Ontario), with her family in 1849. As an artist, Priddis enjoyed working copper, painting china, and carving wood. This table mat is embroidered with names of those in her social circles. In addition to her artistic output, Priddis was active in the London and Middlesex Historical Society, founded in 1901. She conducted local historical research, which she shared in publications. Last, Priddis was active in local charitable and social organizations, such as the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire.
