Label TextThis ornate desk box was used by Walter J. Blackburn or another member of the Blackburn family at the corporate office. Josiah Blackburn, grandfather of Walter, bought a weekly newspaper and named it The London Free Press in 1852. In addition to the newspaper, the Blackburn family acquired radio and eventually television stations, sparking the beginning a media empire that would carry into over 100 years.
