In 1916, the University of Western Ontario acquired what had been the Kingsmill Farm for its new campus north of downtown. University College, with its Memorial Tower (middle), opened first in 1923. Middlesex College (bottom, left), still under construction, duplicated that building’s collegiate gothic architecture. Today, many other buildings share the space with the ones shown here, accommodating a large student body and many disciplines.
