Label TextIn the 1950s, London’s Jessie “Jay” Fleming Peterson (1920-1976) invented the “Peter Perch,” also known as the “Babi-Sitter.” She said it was the nearest thing to her lap when she couldn’t hold her baby. Knowing the chair could make lives easier for other mothers and babies, in 1958 she gave its design to Victoria Hospital. A cooperative effort amongst different hospital departments resulted in a product that sold for $6. Funds generated supported the Service League of London.
