Label TextJoseph Cook’s father, Philip Cook was a shoe maker in London in the 1860s. This was a time when the city’s three biggest shoe factories each employed over 100 people, more than any other industry in town except McClary’s. He left the factory around 1865 and struck out on his own. Under J. P. the firm moved in 1900 from a store at 181 Dundas into a large red brick building at 167 Dundas where they stayed until 1990.
