Label TextFounded in London in 1880's, S. F. Lawrason was one of the first companies to package chemicals for home use. This packaging features a racist caricature of Indigenous peoples. The product was meant to be used to make "headdresses", modeled after the sacred ceremonial objects used by many Indigenous Tribes. Marketing like this reinforced stereotypes and racist ideas that permeated Canadians’ attitudes towards Indigenous peoples.
