Label TextThese bricks are inscribed with names to commemorate a moment in time. J. W. Cawrse brick yard was located on the south side of Springbank Drive. The bricks produced at the yard were stamped with JWC. The London and area was home to many brickyards during the 1800s and early 1900s. Wolseley Barracks was constructed using two million bricks produced by Walker Brothers Brick Yard. Due to the low iron content of the area clay, these yards produced a distinctive yellow brick that can be found in many older London homes. London's brickyards gradually closed during the 1920s to 1940s as red brick became more fashionable.
