Many of these yards were located along Adelaide Street between Grosvenor and Huron streets. Wolseley Barracks was constructed using two million bricks produced by Walker Brothers Brick Yard on the north side of Cheapside near Adelaide Street. Due to the low iron content of the area clay these yards produced the distinctive yellow brick found in many older London homes.
