Label TextThimbles protected the finger and thumb of a sewer. In quilt-making, as in other sewing, pricking fingers with a needle not only hurt but also risked staining the fabric with blood. This thimble belonged to Isaure Peel, wife of acclaimed London painter, Paul Peel.
