Label TextThis stamp seal is from the Sansone Fruit Company, which, from the mid-1920s into the 1970s, operated at 240 Waterloo Street in a building which had once been a roundhouse for the Canadian Pacific Railway. The Sansone Fruit Company has roots in the early 20th century. Salvatore Sansone immigrated from Italy around 1896 and from at least 1900, he was operating a fruit wholesaling business, named Catalano & Sansone, with Cosimo Catalano at 306 Dundas Street. By 1923, Salvatore's children, Josephine, John, and Michael joined him at Catalano & Sansone. Some time between 1923 and 1927, the business moved to 240 Waterloo. By 1931, Cosmio Catalano had left the business and it became the Sansone Fruit Company. The company operated at 240 Waterloo for some 45 years.
