Label TextThis chair belonged to Bernice and Evans Greenwood, the donor's grandparents. Evans Greenwood was raised in what is now called Old South London. He was educated at the University of Western Ontario as a medical doctor. During the First World War he was in charge of a medical hospital in Egypt, and received the highest honour a Canadian can, the Companion of St. Michael and St. George medal, for bravery. During the Second World War he held the position of deputy director of Medical Services for the Canadian army from 1939 until 1942. After the war, he and his family returned to London, where he continued to practice as a medical doctor. They lived and he practised out of their private home at 496 Waterloo St. located at the corner of Waterloo & Dufferin Streets.
