Label TextThis is a Sparton High Fidelity radio and record player. While record playing technology changed, radio did not make it obsolete. Instead, consumers demanded consoles that incorporated both technologies. “High fidelity” referred to the quality of the sound. Improvements in amplifiers and the introduction of long playing (LPs) records reduced the distortion of earlier phonographs.
London-based Sparton of Canada, Ltd., began manufacturing phonographs, radios and household appliances in 1930. It closed in 1978.
