Label TextArielle Kayabaga's family came to London from Burundi as refugees when she was 11-years-old. After her post-secondary studies, she returned to London and ran for city council, representing Ward 13. In 2018 she became the first Black woman elected to London City Council.
Before the 2021 federal election, Kayabaga announced she was running for the federal House of Commons. She won the Liberal Party of Canada nomination and is currently a Member of Parliament for London West.
