Label TextThe Sno-Flex sled belonged to Arleen Simpson Moore of London. It was manufactured by the Canadian Buffalo Sled Company, which operated in Preston, Ontario, from 1911 to 1957. Arleen Simpson Moore (born around 1942) used the sled in the late 1940s and early 1950s, with her brother, Larry. The family lived at 126 Wortley Avenue until 1953 or 1954 and were at 48 Edward Street after 1955. Arleen and Larry used the sled at a nearby hill or hills. The Buffalo Sled Company was founded in 1905 by John J. Schneider and Henry J. Tiedt in Buffalo, New York. It produced sleds, shovels, and coasters (wagons) and its headquarters were in Buffalo, New York (1905-1908) and North Tonawanda, New York (1908-1972). A Canadian subsidiary opened in Preston, Ontario, in 1911 and closed in 1957. The company declared bankruptcy in early-1964 and was acquired by Wheel Industries, Inc. in September. In June 1968 it was purchased by the Tycodyne Industries Corporation. A fire destroyed the company's plant in May 1972, and it was not rebuilt.
