Label TextThis spice box commemorates the military leaders of the South African War (Boer War) (1899-1902): Lords Kitchener and Roberts, General French, and Colonel Otter. Many companies in London and across Canada both demonstrated patriotism and profited from the patriotism of their customers by adopting packaging that celebrated the men leading Canadian and other military forces in South Africa. This conflict saw some 7000 Canadians head overseas, 267 of whom died.
