Label TextThis whisk was used at the ice-cream parlour located in the lobby of Majestic Theatre at 229-231 Dundas Street. Majestic Theatre was operated by the Canadian United Theatres Inc. from around 1921-1930, before becoming a billiard hall. The building at 229-231 Dundas has a rich history that predates the theatre. The London Mechanics Institute, established in 1841, began operations at this site in 1876. The Institute was founded with a focus on the "technical and cultural enrichment of the working man" and provided technical training, a library, and a gathering space for members of the community. Today, the building has been converted to hold office and retail space.
