Label TextAnne Fyfe Brown (1796-1873) brought this Boston rocking chair with her to London from Glasgow, Scotland, when she immigrated in 1849 with her son and his family. The Brown family used it in their home and later at a cottage in Port Stanley until around 1960. You can identify Boston rocking chairs by their: Carved seats with a waterfall front edge and a rise in the rear; Tall backrests with broad crest rails; Seats and crest rails with painted and stenciled flowers, fruit, or landscapes.
