Label TextThis nursery rocker belonged to Susannah Horton (1842-1920). It was part of her wedding dowry when she married Reverend William Henry Allworth Claris (1845-1927) in Frome, Ontario, in 1872. The chair is called a nursery rocker because it has no arms. The curved wood pieces on the side of the chair and attached to its backrest and seat provide extra strength to the chair’s high backrest.
