Label TextBritish immigrant Charles Wray brought this spokeshave with him when he came to London in 1906 in search of a better life. He was part of a surge in British immigration to Canada at that time. Minister of the Interior Clifford Sifton had launched an aggressive recruitment campaign in Great Britain. Within a decade, after the First World War (1914-1918) began, immigration slowed to a trickle.
