Label TextSeated in the centre of this group is Sir George Gibbons, a prominent lawyer, businessman and diplomatic representative of Canada. Sir George Gibbons was a founder of the London Hunt Club where he was the master of the hunt and honorary president. Members of the club attended the Victorian Era Ball held in Toronto in 1897. The ball was organized by Lady Aberdeen, Isabel Hamilton-Gordon, wife of Lord Aberdeen, John Campbell Hamilton-Gordon, who was Canada's Governor General from 1893 - 1898. This fancy dress ball had a theme based around Canada's connection to Britain, in part to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.
