Label TextStone tools were typically made by taking a fist-sized piece of rock, called a core, and using another rock, called a hammerstone, to knock pieces off to create smaller, jagged pieces. The pieces would then be shaped into hand tools and weapons. Sharpened stones such as this one were used in the dressing of fur pelts. Before pelts could be cured, the fur would be cleaned, and muscle and fat would be removed with knives.
