Credit LineGift of Jessie Robins, London, Ontario, 1980

Label TextThese postcards were sent to Mary Robins by two of her sons. Jack Robins mailed his field service postcard to his mother, Mary, in London, Ontario, on April 17, 1917. It let her know that her son was alive at the time of sending. Although we do not know if Jack fought at Vimy Ridge, it seems likely. He survived the war but bore the psychological scars for the rest of his life. Arthur Robins sent his field service postcard to his mother, Mary, on April 8, 1917, the day before the Battle of Vimy Ridge. He survived that battle but did not survive the war. Arthur was killed by machine gun fire north east of Cambrai on October 11, 1918.
