Label TextThe Church of God, a Protestant spin-off, originated in Tennessee in 1886. There were various splits and schisms over the years. Unfortunately, the history of this group is not well-known, even amongst its members. The London congregation began to use 36 York Street in 1955. The London city directories suggest that this is the beginning of the sect in London since no other mention is made to them prior to that. Today, the Church of God is still based in Cleveland, Tennessee, and there are currently 80 congregations in Ontario. London’s congregation is now (2024) called the London Central Church of God and is located at 161 Sanders Street.
