Label TextThis commemorative plate illustrates London’s General Hospital in 1875. The hospital was expanded and renamed Victoria Hospital in 1899. The new facility had wards for children, tubercular patients, and patients with contagious diseases. In praise of the updated facility a November 1899 London Free Press article raved: “The hospital is unequalled in any city of London’s size or even considerably larger on the face of mother earth…”
