Label TextJudith Rodger wore this hat at a rally at Victoria Park in support of the 1992 Charlottetown Accord around October of that year, just prior to the referendum on October 26, 1992. The Accord addressed issues around federalism, proposed reforms to Federal institutions like the Supreme Court of Canada, and included a social charter and a “Canada Clause” outlining key Canadian values, and established Aboriginal Self Government. Many initially supported the Accord, but as people read the document, discussed the various points, and heard from those opposed, like Pierre Trudeau, they began to change their mind. As well, the growing unpopularity of Prime Minister Brian Mulroney did not help. Ultimately, 45.03% voted in favour and 54.97% voted against the accord.
