Label TextThe cameo and the Civil Service of Ontario Association patch share a story. Still in high school, Eva was on her way to school one day when she found a wallet with a large sum of money. She took it home to show her mother and ask what she should do. They determined that handing the money over to the police was the right thing to do and so Eva did that. The next day, when she got to school, she was surprised to have her name mentioned in the morning’s assembly. The person who had lost the money had been able to reclaim it and asked that Eva receive the cameo pin as a mark of gratitude and recognition. School representatives gave her the pin and used her as an example of honesty to her schoolmates. Later, when the Ontario Civil Service approached the school looking for trustworthy and reliable candidates for the service, Evoda was recommended based, in part, on her having given the money over to the police rather than keeping it for herself.
