Label TextThe sign is from a banqueting facility, the Latin Quarter Place, that Johnny and Dorothy Downs operated just north of their restaurant, the Latin Quarter. The Latin Quarter Place was at 133 Kent Street and opened during the 1970s. It housed banqueting spaces named the Mardi Gras Room and the Cantina Room. On this sign, “Cantina Room” is obscured, overpainted with the words “Weddings Meetings.” The Downs closed the Cantina Room at one point and rented the space out for offices. The Latin Quarter Place closed in 1990 at the same time as the Latin Quarter Restaurant.
