Label TextThis round wheelhouse clock is from the engine room of the steamer Victoria. According to records, John Aitken, later London fire chief, who had been on the steamer, salvaged the clock from the wreckage. The doomed vessel capsized near present day Greenway Park while en route from Springbank Park to downtown on Victoria Day (May 24), 1881. The tragedy claimed almost 200 lives.
