Label TextPort Dover, Ontario, Looking Northwest 1940s-1950s Ivey’s greenhouses (middle, left) sit on the edge of Silver Lake. Canada’s second largest wholesale retailer of flowers, the business operated from 1908 to 1992. Evidence of Port Dover’s commercial fishery is in the Lynn River and along its banks. In the 1960s, the once thriving industry declined as stocks of valuable fish, including blue pickerel, disappeared. Today, the water’s edge along the river and Lake Erie (bottom) serve the tourist market.
