Label TextThis photograph, taken in front of the YMCA building on Wellington Street, shows a group of electric linemen. These workers likely constructed and maintained London's electric power, telephone, and telegraph lines. Local workers joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, which advocated for safer working conditions, in 1907. This was much needed as the jobs were hazardous, with high risk of electrocution and little safety training.
